It’s another busy week for Abraham and his family. Both Sarah and Abraham die at ripe old ages. Isaac takes a wife and finds love.

Water Well : Chayei Sarah
Introduction:
In this week’s parsha, Parshat Chayei Sarah, Abraham’s servant finds a wife for Isaac at the typical Biblical pick-up spot, the water well. Rebecca is chosen because of the kindness and generosity she displays in offering water to the servant and his camels. You can talk to your children about different types of water wells and how they work. You can also talk about the importance of water and the importance of sharing our resources with others. Make sure to put your finished wells as centerpieces on your Shabbat table to spark conversation about the Parsha!
Materials:
Instructions:
1. Glue trimmed craft sticks around the entire container, with the rounded parts on top.
2. Glue two craft sticks across from each other vertically on the inside of the container.
3. Glue one craft stick across the two vertical sticks.
4. Construct a roof using craft sticks and lay it onto the supporting craft stick.
5. Optional: Decorate your well with stickers or paint.
6. Optional: Try to make a real pulley system with a mini-bucket!

Clean Plastic or Glass Jar or Tin Can (or, I used the bottom of a 1.5 L water bottle)
Glue (craft glue is fine for the body of the well, a glue gun is preferable for the roof)
